oh david sedaris, as if i needed another reason to love you. from this article, about undecided voters:
“I look at these people and can't quite believe that they exist. Are they professional actors? I wonder. Or are they simply laymen who want a lot of attention? To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. "Can I interest you in the chicken?" she asks. "Or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it? To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked."
also, this video [sorry it's from perez hilton, i don't have a better link] pretty much sums up my worries about sarah palin. i cannot wait until november fifth.

i say, i think i'm going to faint.
it is so funny because even though i have two jobs now i am still not working enough. i work one day this week at kohl's, and one at lb plus one day that i may have to come in for. i have no doubt that november is going to be insane but for now i randomly have all this free time! perhaps i should get a third job. ha. ha.
i finished maurice by em forster the other day. it was lovely. i usually have a hard time getting through books written in older prose because they're a bit hard to get into [it's why i've only ever read pride and prejudice and none of jane austen's other works], but for some reason i love forster's writing. it's so simple but gorgeous and his characters are relatable and real even though they're so far away, time-wise. and a good portion of this book is in cambridge. i do love cambridge. oh and alec says 'fuck'! edwardian people swearing is endlessly entertaining. i also watched the movie. i really liked it, much more than i liked the movie version of a room with a view. james wilby was an awesome maurice, though he needed to have the moustache for longer. it is so funny, it's like he and hugh grant have a great moustache swap midway through the movie. oh and hugh grant made me feel bad for clive! i didn't think it was possible. way to go, young hugh grant. also, i love that according to this wikipedia article, forster showed one of the manuscripts to christopher isherwood before it was published. aww. auden/forster/isherwood = ot3!
hogwarts party on friday! oh snap!

jamaicans have other interests!
i was looking at my living room today and i realized that i unintentionally decked it out in gryffindor colors. now every time i come in my house i feel like i'm coming home to gryffindor tower. now i really want to have an hp party at my house! with pumpkin beer! and hogwarts student costumes! and harry and the potters! it would be so nerdy but possibly fun. and if it wasn't fun, i live close enough to ua that we could all go boarding...in costume. hmm. i may have to do this. we'll see. i also want to have a bollywood party, which would mean a foray into indian cooking! undoubtedly hilarious. now i want indian food.
this is so random but i get so annoyed when people bitch about only children. oh no they'll be so lonely and sad and everyone just needs a boatload of siblings to be happy! eye rolling here. my childhood was not perfect but i don't think that a brother or sister would have made a difference in it. there were times that i wished i had a sibling but i really appreciate the experiences that being an only child brought on. i developed really good relationships with my cousins [and my mom, but that was sort of...unintentional] and learned to do things on my own at an earlier age. and i don't know, i just think that no one ever says, oh man, i feel so bad that my child grew up with siblings! i mean, i didn't think people really said anything negative about only children either but lately i have been hearing it and yeah. lame.
disjointed entry is disjointed so i am going back to watching futurama and listening to my neighbors slam their doors. exciting.

i know it's a steak.
i threw a package of men's underwear at my co-worker [uh twice] and i forgot that we have cameras in the store and i am now worried that i am going to get fired for it. it would be the best worst story ever: i got fired for getting into an underwear fight while doing clearance. i like it too because we followed up the fight with a discussion of this dude he slept with who was named thor. i kind of sort of love work.
i am really sad that i missed the debates tonight though! this election season has turned into a total circus. i mean, every election turns into a circus eventually, but this time we have a depression-inducing version of tina fey, now with eighty percent more suppression of women's rights. sarah palin, man. ugh.
